M.R. Smith was born in Memphis, TN. He joined the United States Army in March of 1989. He completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training. He served in numerous leadership positions including Squad Leader, Food Operations Sergeant, Senior Food Operations Sergeant, and Senior Instructor Writer.
He met Evangelist Ellis 10 years ago while serving in a local ministry in Tacoma-Spanaway. During those early years, they served on several community outreach projects for the Tacoma-Spanaway area. They got to know each other very well. Throughout the years, they realized they had similar passions as it pertains to Christ first and foremost, and then sports such as basketball and football in particular as well. Through this friendship, Smitty And Ellis was born, which is an upcoming podcast about sports.
